I’m all for companies taking aim at others. In fact, I think it’s a smart move in many cases, since it gives firms the ability to highlight, on their own turf, exactly why they believe their products are better than any others. But Microsoft’s decision to build a “PC versus Mac” page on its Windows 7 site is a huge mistake, even if you’re a Windows supporter.

Nikon tonight confirmed the existence of the D3100, a major revamp of its entry-level DSLR. The camera in some ways is Nikon’s best as it’s the first mainstream model to shoot above 12 megapixels, at 14, and its first to shoot 1080p video. Vodafone Mobile Wi-Fi launches in the UK – Allows You to Connect Your Wi-Fi Enabled Devices to the 3G Network

odafone has launched its very own mobile Wi-Fi device that, like Three’s Mi-Fi, allows you to connect your Wi-Fi enabled devices to the 3G network.
Vodafone’s version, which it is simply calling Mobile Wi-Fi, is a Huawei piece of kit (the same guys who make Three’s offerings) and the network says that you’ll be able to connect up to five different devices to it at once. More >

Is Amazon Hoping to One-Up Their Own Kindle e-Reader by Getting Into the Android Tablet Business?

Amazon has a division called Lab 126, in Cupertino, CA. Lab 126 brought Amazon the Kindle. Their website says “We design and develop easy-to-use, highly integrated consumer products.” Products, as in more than one. And their job board has a number of listings for electronics hardware specialists.
Those could be for future releases of the Kindle, or they could be for other secret projects in development. The NY Times Bits Blog heard specifically that they are developing other consumer products. These devices are intended to enable people to buy more Amazon content, such as e-books, video rentals and purchases, and music. More >
