RIM May Use OS Created by QNX For BlackPad – Reportedly be Available by November for $499
Aug 20th

It is no secret RIM is prepping an iPad-killer in the form of the BlackPad, a device that will reportedly be available by November for $499. As you would probably guess, RIM should use BlackBerry OS 6 on the BlackPad, maybe with a few minor upgrades and features, but it looks like RIM might go in another direction. Back in April, RIM purchased QNX Software Systems for a cool $200 million and word on the street is RIM wants QNX to create an OS for the BlackPad. More >

So what is BlackBerry 6, exactly? More >
BlackBerry Torch vs. Android – RIM’s Advantage Remains Simplicity, Consistency Product and a Consistently Good Experience
Aug 4th

Against the complexity of Android choices, both the new Torch and the iPhone are a breath of fresh air, and may showcase the problems with too many choices, which can often trump those with too few. Still, Android, at least for now, retains one big advantage, and that is carrier choice.
Android is also number two in terms of application store depth, and has the first 4G phones in the market, but coverage is spotty at best, and battery life in 4G mode has proven to be unacceptably short (three to four hours). More >
BlackBerry Torch vs. iPhone 4 – Business Functions vs. Multimedia
Aug 4th

Much like the new iPhone builds on the strengths of earlier versions, this new BlackBerry isn’t trying to be anything but a better BlackBerry phone. The Torch isn’t like so many of the phones that have been coming out from a variety of vendors (including RIM with the Storm) that attempt to clone the iPhone. I think that is a good thing, because the BlackBerry has many advantages over the other phones. More >

Rumours: BlackBerry Tablet Could Be Named “BlackPad”
Aug 2nd

Unless someone at Research In Motion is taking the time to screw with all of us, it looks like we might have an official name for their long-rumored BlackBerry tablet project: BlackPad.

The NEW Blackberry 4G – Coming December 2010
Jul 30th

Say hello…to the first ever Blackberry 4G with an app store…The Blackberry Triton! The unofficial name (Triton) suits it well as it will be without a doubt, the best blackberry ever… strong, fast, and elite.
The new 4G Blackberry does not have a home yet, so which network will get it first is unknown. AT&T is building a 4G network, so is Verizon Wireless…but Sprint already has a 4G network and T-Mobile is not too far behind. If all goes as expected, 4G speeds will be 4 to 8 times faster than 3G network rates today, with coverage available over broader areas. The Blackberry Triton should be made with both CDMA and GSM technology, making it compatible on all U.S. Carriers.

BlackBerry 9780 shown running OS 6
Jul 30th

Until now, the phone getting most of the OS 6 attention is the BlackBerry 9800. However, it looks like the BlackBerry 9780, also unannounced at this time, will run OS 6 as well. In the video below, the BlackBerry 9780 by RIM is running OS 6, but since the phone is a pre-release device, it is not running the final software version of OS 6. It’s worth noting this is the first QWERTY BlackBerry device we have seen OS 6 operate on.
The 9780 has similar and hardware to that of the 9700, probably will operate on GSM network, and features the same battery as the Bold 9700. Since it runs OS 6, the device comes with 512MB of RAM. Hopefully we’ll hear more information about the BlackBerry 9780 at the RIM event, and who knows, maybe it will launch with the BlackBerry 9800 or shortly thereafter. More >
